Accreditation Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What types of continuing education credit can I obtain from attending a CBI conference?
A: Two types of credit are offered for every event: IACET CEUs & NASBA CPEs.

IACET CEU: Only organizations that meet IACET's internationally recognized continuing education and training standards are approved as Authorized Providers. IACET's standards enable continuing educators to deliver programs of the highest quality, and only Authorized Providers offer the IACET CEU. IACET CEUs reflect strong procedural standards and organizations only become IACET Authorized Providers after an application and approval process that thoroughly reviews their delivery of learning outcomes, in order to ensure a quality final product for the learner.

NASBA CPE: Most states require continuing professional education (CPE) for CPAs to maintain active licenses. NASBA's Regulatory Compliance Services division offers several programs that assist state boards and their licensees by determining high quality CPE providers. The National Registry of CPE Sponsors (Registry) lists organizations that provide high quality CPE in accordance with nationally recognized standards.

Q: Are there any other types of credit I can receive?
A: CBI offers CLE credits on a per conference, per state basis. For more information please inquire at accreditation@cbinet.com

Q: How will I know if my organization/state will accept these credits?
A: A list of organizations accepting the IACET CEU can be found at the following link: http://www.iacet.org/resources/accept_ceu.htm

A list of states accepting the NASBA CPE can be found at the following link: http://www.nasba.org/nasbaweb.nsf/cpe

Q: If my organization/state is not listed can I still obtain credit for attending a CBI conference?
A: Please contact CBI's Accreditation team at accreditation@cbinet.com to receive a certificate of attendance and a copy of the brochure to submit to your organization/state when applying for credit.

Q: How is credit calculated?
A: IACET uses the following standard to award credit: One (1) IACET CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation (based on a 60 minute hour).

NASBA uses the following standard to award credit: One (1) NASBA CPE is equal to fifty (50) minutes of participation.

Q: How do I go about requesting credit for a conference I am attending?
A: Please fill out the Attendance Confirmation Request Form provided on-site. Attach a business card to the form and submit it to a CBI representative after 1pm on the second day of the conference.

Q: If the conference has already taken place, how do I go about requesting credit?
A: Contact accreditation@cbinet.com with the following: Conference Title, Date and Location; the type of credit you wish to receive and which portions of the conference you attended (i.e. Conference & Workshop, Conference Only or Workshop Only).

Q: Approximately how long after the conference will I receive my credits/certificates?
A: Credits and/or certificates will be mailed within four (4) weeks of the conference ending. Typically you will receive credits and/or certificates sooner, however if the conference is one of our larger events it may take the full four (4) weeks due to the number of requests.

Please contact accreditation@cbinet.com with any other general inquiries or for more information.
